Drummer of the groove metal band Pantera, Vinnie Paul died last day at the age of 54.
One of his representative confirmed his death to the billboard, but also mentioned there are no further details available at this time.
He and Dimebag both formed the band Pantera in 1981. And the band got it’s success and became mainstream with the second lead singer Phil Anselmo. Throughout the career, Pantera got 4 nominations of Grammy and charted nine albums on the billboard 200, including its 1994 album Far Beyond Driven, Which debuted at No. 1 on the chart.
After the breakup of Pantera, Abbott brothers formed the heavy metal band Damageplan with the former tattoo artist Bob Zilla on bass and guitarist Pat Lachman on lead vocals. On the tour to support Damageplan’s album, Dimebag Darrell was shot dead onstage by an Ex-US marine Nathan Gale.
Paul mentioned his biggest drum influencers as Peter Criss of Kiss and Tommy Aldridge, also mentioned Bill Ward, John Bonham, Mikkey Dee, Alex Van Halen and Niel Peart.
Since 2006, Paul was the drummer of the heavy metal supergroup Hellyeah, that includes Mudvayne’s vocalist Chad Gray and Nothingface guitarist Tom Maxwell.
The death was recently confirmed by the post on the Pantera’s official page on 23rd June 2018.
